When I think of a great road trip, I think of good tunes, amazing company and delicious snacks! As summer approaches, many of us will be going on road trips, and maybe many of us are also trying to achieve more balance in our diets. Let’s look at some healthy road trips snacks that you can prepare yourself or buy before you hit the road.
Savoury healthy road trip snacks
PREPARE YOURSELF
If you’re organised and have the time and willing, some of my favourite healthy road trip snacks are made at home:
- Veggie sticks with hummus or tzatziki, or just plain easy-to-eat veggie sticks if you don’t have a cooler box available
- Vegetable muffins
- Mini quiches
- Mixed nuts and seeds
- VitaWeats or Corn Thinz sandwiched with peanut butter
BUY PRE-PACKAGED
But it is possible to also buy packaged savoury snacks. My favourites are:
- Roasted chickpeas
- Plain or lightly-salted popcorn
- Ready-to-go hummus and cracker packs
- Cheese and cracker packs
